How the typing works
This tool uses a simple phonetic input map. Single letters map directly (a to а, m to м, r to р). Use these combinations for the other letters:

About this keyboard
The 33 letter recordings come from Russio’s alphabet lessons. The Latin keys are shortcuts for this tool: j gives й, c gives ц, eh gives э, and x gives кс. Existing Cyrillic text is preserved. Spaces and numbers stay in place. Apostrophes enter the soft or hard sign; other punctuation is preserved.
These shortcuts are not an official transliteration standard. For a formal reference, see the Library of Congress Russian romanization table (2012, PDF), which uses different symbols for some letters. English sound hints are approximations.
For a person’s name, the usual Russian spelling may differ from a letter conversion. This tool does not determine passport or legal spellings.
