Frequently asked questions

What is Russio?

Russio teaches the Russian alphabet and language from the very first letter, in levels from A1 to C2, with explanations in ten languages. It uses active recall, spaced repetition, finger-tracing of letterforms and audio, to help what you learn stick.

Lessons and reviews work offline, and there are no streaks that punish you for missing a day.

Do I need an account?

No. You can install Russio and start learning straight away, without signing up. In the background, the app creates a guest account with a random user ID, which holds no name or email address, and uses it to back up your progress.

If you want your progress on another device, you can sign in with Apple or Google. Apple or Google then share your email address and name with us (Apple lets you hide your email address), as the Privacy Policy explains.

How does the review schedule work?

Russio uses a spaced-repetition scheduler (FSRS). Each letter and word you learn is scheduled to come back for review just before you would forget it. The more reliably you recall something, the longer until it returns. Missing a day simply reschedules your reviews; nothing is lost and you are never penalized.

Why does it ask me to type or trace instead of just tapping?

Producing the answer yourself, by tracing the letterform or typing the sound on the in-app keyboard, is what builds durable memory. Multiple-choice is used only the first time you meet a new item; after that, Russio asks you to recall it actively. That is the core of why it works better than tap-only apps.

Something in a lesson looks wrong. How do I report it?

Tap "Something looks wrong?" on the lesson or review screen, choose the type of problem and, if you like, add a detail. The report carries the item, the problem type, the text on screen, the detail you add, the language the app explains in, the app version and your account's random user ID. We use these reports to correct the content.

Please do not put personal details in the detail field.

How do I turn practice reminders on or off?

Open Settings and use the daily reminder option. Reminders are off until you turn them on, and you choose the time. Your phone schedules them, so they work offline too.

How do I delete my account?

From the app: open Settings, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete account, then confirm. This deletes your account, guest or signed in, and the data our database keeps with it, such as your progress backup and your reports, and it clears the learning data on your device. The action cannot be undone. The app then starts again with a new, empty guest account.

Alternatively, email support@iocodo.com with the subject "Russio Account Deletion" and we will process it within 30 days. If you signed in with Apple or Google, include the email address of that account; a guest account can be deleted only in the app. The Privacy Policy lists what is deleted and what is kept.

What data does Russio use?

Russio keeps your learning progress on your device and backs it up automatically, under a random user ID, to our database on Google Firebase. It uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to fix bugs and understand which features are used (device model, OS version, app version, approximate location, in-app events, crash reports). We do not sell your data. The Privacy Policy lists every service the app talks to and what each one receives.

How do I report a bug or crash?

Email support@iocodo.com with:

  • Device model and OS version
  • App version (visible in Settings)
  • What you were doing when it happened
  • Whether it is reproducible
How do refunds work?

Russio is free to download, and Russio Pro is an in-app purchase. Refunds are handled by the store you bought it from:
