Privacy policy
Account and identity
Twistio has no account system. You do not sign up and you never give us an email address.
The first time you open the app, Firebase Anonymous Authentication assigns your device a random id. That id lets a score be attributed to your device without identifying you.
Ranked play
Twistio has two ranked modes: the daily knot and the weekly Rush 90. When you finish one, the app sends the following to Cloud Firestore:
- your time
- your number of moves
- whether you used a hint
- your random id
- a display name the app generates for you from a word list
You never type a display name yourself. These entries, including the display name, are shown to other players on the board.
Analytics, crash reports and app integrity
Twistio uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used, and Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes.
These services process device and app-instance identifiers, usage events and crash data, including device model and app version. This information is tied to identifiers for your copy of the app, never to your name or email address, which we do not have.
Firebase App Check confirms that a request comes from a genuine copy of the app. It uses App Attest on iPhone and Play Integrity on Android, and sends an attestation token. App Check does not send personal data.
Firebase Remote Config sends settings to the app, such as whether ads are switched on.
Google processes this information to provide these services. Read Firebase's privacy information for details about its processing and retention practices.
Advertising
Twistio includes the Google Mobile Ads SDK. At launch, ads are switched off and the app serves none. We can switch ads on remotely later, without shipping a new version.
Once ads are on, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and a coarse location worked out from your IP address. On iPhone, the app asks for the App Tracking Transparency permission first.
Where the law requires it, a consent form asks you first and decides whether the ads you see are personalised.
Purchases
Spool packs are bought through the App Store or Google Play. Neither store sends us your payment details.
The store only tells the app that a purchase completed, and Firebase Analytics records that a purchase happened.
Notifications
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. The app includes Firebase Cloud Messaging, which can create a push token for your device. We do not store that token, and we send no push messages.
Turn reminders off in your device's notification settings at any time.
On your device
Your progress, settings and spools are stored on your device.
Children
Twistio is rated 13+ and is not directed at children.
Removing your board entries
A ranked entry is identified by your random id and by the display name shown on the board, never by your real name.
To have your entries removed, email support@iocodo.com, the address on our support page. Include the display name shown on the board so we can find your entries.
When you contact us
If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. We use it to respond to your request. Please avoid including personal or sensitive information in screenshots or crash descriptions.
Your choices
You can manage reminders through your device's notification settings. On iPhone, manage the App Tracking Transparency permission through your device's privacy settings.
Clearing the app's data, or uninstalling it, removes your locally stored progress, settings and spools. Questions about information already processed by our service providers go to support@iocodo.com.
